    Darbe Mehr Major Initiatives – Landscaping

    The Board in conjunction with the ZSO House & Garden committee are moving forward with the next major initiative to update the Darbe Mehr.  The Landscaping project is now in the Request For Quote stage. 

    Details of the RFQ including the scope of the project are in the attached spreadsheet. 

    The deadline for submission of all quotes is May 31st, 2020

    The RFQ will also be sent via email to the community and we welcome any and all referrals for this work.  Please direct any questions or comments to secretary@zso.org.

    There will continue to be NO gatherings allowed at the Mehraban Giv Darbe Mehr. In keeping with the Government of Ontario’s orders. The in-person attendance for prayers at the MGDM is restricted to 5 people ONLY including the priest(s) and must be arranged in advance by contacting Afreed Mistry (evp@zso.org). Any additional people will NOT be allowed to enter the premises.

    Attention high school graduates, the application process for the Annual ZSO Academic and Community Service Award is now open. 

    The deadline for receiving completed applications this year is 20th July 2020. All pertinent details are in the application form which can be found here.

    Our ZAGNY community is deeply saddened by the untimely passing away of our dear friend and fellow board member Mayyar Noushi, just 51 years old, in a motorcycle accident on the morning of October 10, 2019.

    Mayyar lived his life serving the community and now it is our turn to rally around the family. Many members have already contacted us and asked how they can help. ZAGNY has now initiated a collection for Mayyar so that we can in some small way help and support them at this difficult time. We hope that our community steps up and contributes generously.

    FEZANA is happy to announce the setting up of the Bapsy Irani Scholarship for the Culinary & Fine Arts. This scholarship is set up with contribution from the family of Bapsy Irani.

    Objectives

    The Bapsy Irani Scholarship for the Culinary & Fine Arts (C&FA Scholarship) provides financial support to Zarathushtis who wish to study the Culinary Arts or Fine Arts, comprising of drawing, painiting, sculpture or the graphic arts.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must profess and practice the Zarathushti faith, be high school graduates, be citizens of USA & Canada or legal residents . Foreign students holding legal status may also apply provided they have been in North America for atleast one year.

    Please note that the Meherban Guiv prayers scheduled for Monday, October 7th at Darbe Mehr are CANCELLED. 

    Annual prayers will continue to be held on June 16th to honour Arbab Rustom Guiv, Keikhosrow Guiv and Mehraban Guiv together.
