he Zoroastrian Society of Ontario (ZSO) deeply mourns the passing of Alayar Dabestani, a beloved and esteemed member of our Zoroastrian community.

Born on July 1, 1943, in Sharifabad, Ardakan, Alayar was the cherished son of the late Khatoon and Ardashir. He departed peacefully on June 6, 2025, in Seattle, USA, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his faith and community.
Alayar will be remembered for his quiet strength, warm generosity, and steadfast devotion to the Zoroastrian principles of Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds. As a pillar of our community, he was always thoughtful, compassionate, and committed to uplifting those around him. He played a significant role in supporting Zoroastrian newcomers in Toronto, offering them opportunities through the cinema he co-owned with Esfandiar Dehmoubed. His actions embodied his commitment to the prosperity and unity of our people.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gitty Zohrabi, and their two children, Nousheen and Ardeshir. His memory will continue to shine through them, as well as through all those whose lives he touched with his wisdom and kindness.
Among the early students of the elementary school in Sharifabad, Alayar was one of the thoughtful voices of our community, respected for his dedication to education, tradition, and service. His values and character remain a testament to the enduring spirit of Zoroastrianism.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may Ahura Mazda grant strength and comfort to his family during this time of sorrow.
